My work in abstract portraiture explores the balance between anatomical precision and expressive abstraction, capturing both the physical structure and emotional depth of the human form. Rooted in my background in natural science illustration, my portraits maintain accurate proportions and skeletal integrity, ensuring a foundation of realism even as the composition shifts into abstraction.
By blending precise anatomical rendering with gestural distortions, fragmented forms, and layered textures, I aim to reveal the tension between structure and perception. Faces and figures emerge from deconstructed shapes, highlighting the contrast between what is seen and what is felt.
Through this interplay of scientific accuracy and artistic abstraction, my work challenges the idea of fixed identity, emphasizing the fluidity of form, emotion, and the ever-changing nature of human existence.
